Disturbing Scene In New 'Peter Rabbit' Movie Has Parents Upset

Even G-rated movies wind up with a little violence in them, but most of it gets overlooked. However, a scene in the new PG film Peter Rabbit has parents up in arms. 

In the flick, Peter and some other bunnies wind up pelting farmer Tom McGregor with some blueberries - typically not the worst thing to see except that they're doing it because McGregor is allergic to the fruit.

Allergy sufferers and advocacy groups are calling for moviegoers to boycott the film because of the scene, which ends with the farmer needing an epinephrine injection. They fear children who watch it will copy what they see and endanger people with allergies, while it also might trigger young allergy sufferers. 

Sony Pictures released a statement apologizing for the scene that reads:

“Food allergies are a serious issue. Our film should not have made light of Peter Rabbit’s archnemesis, Mr. McGregor, being allergic to blackberries, even in a cartoonish, slapstick way. We sincerely regret not being more aware and sensitive to this issue, and we truly apologize.”

For now, the scene is still in the movie, which is in theaters now.
